What to inspect
Compare the payer, amount, currency, reference, and status shown in your account. Watch for messages asking you to pay a fee or upgrade an account to receive money. Verify such claims directly with the provider.
A practical workflow
Open the account independently and locate the transaction. If it is absent or unclear, contact support using official details. Keep the watch in your custody until the agreed payment condition is satisfied.
When to pause or proceed
Do not let a courier arrival or buyer’s impatience replace confirmation. If the provider cannot verify the claimed payment, postpone the handover.
Worked example
Suppose a buyer sends a bank screenshot while your own account shows no transaction. The screenshot may be a lead for the provider to investigate, but it is not evidence that you have received the money.
Illustrative scenario, not a customer case or reported event.
Wording you can adapt
Use this for the relevant contact or as a private task note. Replace bracketed fields with accurate details and send sensitive records only through an appropriate secure channel.
Thank you for the payment notice. I will confirm the transaction through my own provider before releasing the watch. Please send the reference if needed for tracing, but I cannot use a screenshot or forwarded email as confirmation. If the status is unclear, we can pause the handover while the provider checks it.
Your working record
Copy these fields into a private note. For each entry, add the source file or contact, the date checked, and anything still unresolved. Leave unknown information marked unknown; do not guess to complete the sheet.

Verify the request outside the message that delivered it
A convincing message can contain a false payment destination or a link to an imitation service. Treat the identity of the sender, the destination of the money, and the status of the transaction as separate checks. Open your payment account or marketplace directly, using an address you already trust. A screenshot supplied by the other party is not the same evidence as a transaction visible in your own account.
When something changes, preserve the earlier instructions before responding. Note the account name, destination, amount, time, and stated reason for the change. Confirm the change with the established business using independently obtained contact details. If you already paid, contact your payment provider promptly and ask which evidence and deadlines apply. Keep the original correspondence even if a profile or listing disappears.
No payment method makes a watch purchase risk-free. Recovery rights depend on the provider, payment type, timing, and jurisdiction. Do not send another payment to someone promising that it will unlock a refund.
Does money appearing in an account always make it final?
Different payment types have different reversal and fraud rules. Ask your provider what the status means for that transaction rather than assuming every visible balance is irreversible.

Check a watch serial number
A MyStolenWatch search checks reports held in this database. A no-match result does not certify authenticity, ownership, or an absence of theft elsewhere. Check current pricing before purchasing a search.
